DR. GOH LIM THYE

Dr. Goh Lim Thye is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya, and currently serves as the Deputy Dean of Development. With strong academic, policy, and industry engagement, he brings multidisciplinary expertise spanning Development Economics, International Economics, Macroeconomics, and Applied Econometrics. He holds a PhD in Economics, a Master of Science in International Economics, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Economics from Universiti Putra Malaysia. In addition to his academic leadership roles, he is an HRDC Accredited Trainer, delivering executive training programmes focused on economic strategy, policy analysis, and business decision-making. His research focuses on income inequality, foreign direct investment, sustainable growth, and the roles of institutional quality and human capital in shaping economic performance, particularly across ASEAN economies. Dr. Goh has led and collaborated in multiple national and international research projects and has served as an International Visiting Lecturer and Visiting Fellow, strengthening regional academic collaboration. He also serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Institutions and Economics. Beyond academia, he is an active policy commentator, with his economic insights regularly featured in national media and policy discussions on fiscal reforms, trade dynamics, and regional economic integration.
