Professor Dr. Yvonne Lim Ai Lian is the Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) at Universiti Malaya and a Senior Professor in the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine. A Fellow and former Council Member of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), she co-chairs the APRU Asia Pacific Women in Leadership (APWiL) Programme and serves on its International Advisory Committee. Her research focuses on host-parasite-environment interactions in indigenous and underserved communities, aiming to develop multi-targeted solutions. She also investigates gut and skin microbiome diversity across populations with varied socioeconomic and ecological backgrounds, providing insights into health disparities and disease susceptibility. With extensive international collaborations, her work is supported by prestigious grants, including NIH R01. She has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles, contributed to nine book chapters, and written three books. A dedicated mentor, she has supervised more than 40 postgraduate students to completion, fostering excellence in parasitology, tropical diseases and microbiome research. A recipient of numerous accolades, she remains committed to improving health outcomes among indigenous communities while inspiring and empowering future generations.
