My research explores the psychological and emotional dimensions of learning an additional language. I actively engage with theoretical perspectives and seek innovative methodologies to understand psychological phenomena in language learning. My most recent book, Emotions and Affect in Language Learning: A Photovoice Study of Learning in Lockdown (2025, Routledge), draws on Vygotsky’s concept of perezhivanie and employs photovoice methodology to examine language learners’ experiences during the COVID-19 lockdown. My broader academic interests include quantitative methods in applied linguistics, natural language processing, and the intersection of sensory perception—particularly olfaction—with language, cognition, and emotion. I welcome opportunities for collaboration with researchers who share these interests.
