Dr. Krishnamurithy Genasan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya (UM). He holds key administrative leadership roles as Head of the Central Research Laboratory (Faculty of Medicine) and Deputy Director (Laboratories) at the National Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence in Research and Learning (NOCERAL). A former UM Bright Spark Scholar, he earned a dual Ph.D. in Orthopaedic Surgery from Universiti Malaya and the University of Liverpool, alongside a Master’s in Medical Science and a First-Class Honors B.Sc. in Medical Biotechnology from UM. His research expertise centers on musculoskeletal physiology, tissue engineering, biomaterial characterization, and immunomodulatory strategies for osteoarthritis and intervertebral disc degeneration. Dr. Krishnamurithy serves as Principal Investigator and Co-Researcher on numerous national grants (including FRGS) and has authored over 50 Web of Science and Scopus-indexed publications. He serves on the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio), supervises PhD, Master’s, and Master of Orthopaedic Surgery clinical trainees, and was awarded the Universiti Malaya Excellence Service Award in 2025.
