Kong Kin Weng is a senior lecturer in the Department of Molecular Medicine at Universiti Malaya. He joined in 2011 as a SLAI Fellow and received the Bright Spark Scholarship, enabling him to pursue a PhD in Molecular Medicine. His research focuses on food science, including food analysis, chemistry, nutritional biochemistry, nutrigenomics, traditional medicine, and natural products, bridging traditional knowledge with modern science. Kong has received several accolades, including a travel award for the Japan Medical Innovation Programme (2017) and research sponsorships at the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, China (2019), and Monash University Malaysia (2023). He served as a Specially-invited Expert (2017–2020) and Research Consultant (2019–2024) at the Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China. He is currently an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Nutrition and an Editorial Board Member of Discovery Food and Food as Medicine. Recognized as a top peer reviewer, he received Publons Peer Review Awards in 2017 and 2018. His research on medicinal and functional foods is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, books, and patents.
