Professor Dr Haris Abd Wahab is Professor of Community Development at the Department of Social Administration and Justice, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. He has held senior leadership roles including Deputy Dean (Development), Deputy Dean (Student Affairs), and multiple appointments as Head of Department, and serves on various international, national, university, faculty, and departmental committees. With over two decades of academic and professional experience, he is a recognised authority in Community Development. His work spans teaching, research, and academic engagement in community development, social work, and social outreach, with teaching expertise in social problems, social work practice, community development, social marketing, research methodology, and social theory. His research focuses on community well-being, disability rehabilitation, marginalised groups, Orang Asli traditional knowledge, and Indigenous herbal medicine practices, contributing to empowerment, social inclusion, and sustainable development. He has published extensively, including more than 15 books, 40 book chapters, 20 Web of Science-indexed articles, 40 Scopus-indexed articles, and over 90 peer-reviewed journal articles. He has supervised over 50 postgraduate candidates and serves as an external examiner for Master’s and PhD theses internationally.
