Associate Professor Dr. Hanee Farzana Hizaddin is an academic at Universiti Malaya, where she currently serves as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering (2024-2027), and is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). Her expertise spans green solvents, solvent extraction, metal separation and purification, and sustainable resource recovery, with particular emphasis on deep eutectic solvents, ionic liquids, and computational solvent design using COSMO-RS. Her research focuses on developing sustainable separation and recovery processes for rare earth elements, critical metals, and valuable materials from secondary resources and e-waste. She has led and contributed to multidisciplinary research projects involving national and international collaborators, with a strong interest in translating fundamental separation science into sustainable and scalable processes. Beyond research, she is actively involved in engineering education, curriculum development, accreditation, academic leadership, and industry engagement. Prior to joining academia, she gained industrial experience as a Safety and Risk Engineer with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia.
