Dr. Muhammad Fazril Razif joined the Department of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, in 2014. He graduated from Murdoch University, Australia, in 2007 with dual bachelor's degrees (Biomedical Science/Molecular Biology/Forensic Biology and Toxicology, minor in Criminology). He obtained his PhD from The University of Western Australia in 2013, conducting research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. In 2011, he was shortlisted as a state finalist for the AusBiotech–GSK Student Excellence Awards. His research spans protein expression and validation, genomics, transcriptomics, and medicinal mushroom research. Since joining the Medicinal Mushroom Research Group in 2017, his work has focused on the integrated omics of medicinal mushrooms, novel protein discovery, and the investigation of bioactivities through preclinical and clinical studies. Beyond research, Dr. Fazril has spearheaded the development of three elective courses and serves as Head of the Visibility, Information and Communication Unit (VICFOM), Departmental Risk Manager, and member of the Faculty's quality management and institutional improvement initiatives.  As Principal Investigator, he has graduated four PhD and two MSc students and currently supervises three PhD and one MSc candidates. He has published three book chapters and over 30 research articles, secured eight research grants, including three as Principal Investigator. He currently serves as the Honorary Treasurer of the Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
