ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. FARRAH DINA BINTI YUSOP

Associate Professor Dr. Farrah Dina Yusop is the former Director of Universiti Malaya’s Academic Enhancement and Leadership Development Center (ADeC). She holds a PhD in two fields: Curriculum and Instructional Technology (CIT) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) from Iowa State University (ISU), USA.Dr. Farrah actively researches and publishes in the areas of higher education, Web 2.0, social media, educational games and mobile learning. She is especially known for her Civic-Minded Instructional Designer (CMID) conceptual framework which has reframed current ways of educating professionals for the purpose of improving public life. Her works are published in top tier international and Malaysian journals including the British Journal of Educational Technology (BJET), World Applied Sciences Journal, and the New Educational Review. Her recent 2014 BJET article has won the Outstanding Journal Article Award from the world renowned American Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). She has recently be awarded another international award, the Outstanding Woman in Humanities and Social Sciences 2018 by Venus International Foundation. She was also third runner of the Anugerah Khas Menteri Pendidikan Malaysia: Rekabentuk Kurikulum dan Penyampaian Inovatif (AKRI) 2018. Dr. Farrah was the winner of the prestigious University of Malaya’s Excellence Award (Teaching) 2011. She was also internationally recognized with the prominent PEO International Peace Scholarship, USA, the Richard and Shirley Warren Scholarship, USA and the International Association of Research in Service-Learning & Community Engagement (IARSLCE), USA awards in her academic endeavors.Dr. Farrah has wide experiences in the area of teaching and training, both locally and internationally, in the area of educational technology and instructional design. Professional-wise, Dr. Farrah serves as international board member for the Malaysian Online Journal of Educational Technology (MOJET) and the Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology (TOJET), as well as advisor for Iowa State University’s Learning Design Solutions, a non-profit organization in USA that provides instructional design services to various community partners in USA. She currently involves in various trans-disciplinary national and international collaborative research projects including with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC); RMIT, Australia; University of Hawaii, USA; Kasetsart University, Thailand under the Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Partnership (APHERP), East-West Center, USA and with Centro Escolar University, Philippine under the Southeast Asia and Taiwan Universities (SATU) Joint Research Scheme.
