Dr. Maryani Mohamed Rohani, Associate Professor in Special Care Dentistry (SCD) at Universiti Malaya, is a pioneering leader dedicated to advancing inclusive oral health care for individuals with disabilities. Her career spans two decades of transformative contributions, marked by academic excellence, clinical innovation, and community impact. As Associate Dean of Community and Industry Relations (2021–2024-2027) and Programme Coordinator for Malaysia’s first Doctor in SCD, she has shaped national dental education through curriculum development, accreditation leadership, and mentorship. Internationally, she is recognised as a Fellow of the International Association for Disability and Oral Health and a multi-award-winning researcher, earning accolades for her work in sensory-friendly care protocols and community projects. Dr. Mohamed Rohani’s clinical leadership extends to marginalised groups, including refugees and Orang Asli communities, while her role as Clinical Director for Special Olympics Malaysia underscores her commitment to athletes with intellectual disabilities. Her interdisciplinary collaborations with NGOs and policymakers bridge gaps in special needs care, supported by research in palliative dentistry and behaviour management.
