Dr. Anuratha Rajasegaram, a senior lecturer in the Department of Indian Studies at Universiti Malaya, is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work sits at the crossroads of Tamil philosophy, complementary and alternative medicine, conventional medicine, and the humanities. Her research places particular emphasis on mental health and aging within marginalized communities. As a social scientist, she specializes in governance, behavioral change, and medical humanities among minority groups. Her scholarship connects medicine with culture, community, the social sciences, and the arts, with a strong commitment to restoring and rehabilitating mental wellbeing. Through a humanistic and culturally grounded approach, she advocates for holistic, community-informed models of mental health and wellness. She holds a PhD and a Master of Criminal Justice (MCJ) from Universiti Malaya and a BSc (Hons) from Middlesex University, England. In addition to her academic role, Dr. Rajasegaram previously was engaged as a research consultant at the Clinical Research Centre, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang, Selangor, where she contributed to guiding interdisciplinary research. She remains actively involved in both research and postgraduate supervision and is currently accepting PhD students for the 2025 and 2026 academic years.
