Vascular Pharmacology – Metabolic and cardiovascular diseases and oxidative stress My research interest is in (a) Oxidative Stress and Endothelial dysfunction (b) Natural Product-Based Therapeutics for metabolic diseases (c) Cellular and molecular mechanism of Drug action. My main interest is in exploring the role of oxidative stress, renin-angiotensin system and endoplasmic reticulum stress in modulating metabolic and cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, obesity and diabetes mellitus, mainly investigating their role in modulating vascular tone. My research group focuses on identifying potential role of peptides, nitrites and natural products in protecting vascular function in various cardiovascular diseases using animal models. The work includes investigating the pharmacological action of these compounds and elucidating their cellular and molecular mechanism of actions, in order to identify potential therapeutic targets.
