Danny Wong Tze Ken is Professor of History at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya where he teaches history of Southeast Asia and History of China. His research interests include History of Sabah, the Chinese in Malaysia, and China’s relations with Southeast Asia. He was Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya from 2018-2025. He was also Director of Global Planning & Strategy Centre, Universiti Malaya (2012-2018) and former Director of the Institute of China Studies (2014-2017) and former Head of the Malaysian Chinese Research Centre at the same university. Professor Wong is a Member of the National Council of Historians, appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia (2025-2027). Professor Wong is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia. He is also Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, United Kingdom, Member of the Board of Governors, Chinese Heritage Centre, Singapore and Honorary Secretary and Council Member of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society (MBRAS). In 2025, Professor Wong was elected President of the International Society for the Study of the Chinese Overseas (ISSCO) 2025-2028. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Global Hakka Studies Consortium since 2019. Professor Wong is currently Visiting Chair Professor at the School of International Relations/Research School of Southeast Asian Studies, Xiamen University,
