Anna A. Che Azmi is a Professor of Accounting at Universiti Malaya whose work sits at the intersection of accounting, taxation and technology, with extensions into Shariah compliance, sustainability and social care. She holds a PhD from the University of Reading, UK, and has over 25 years of experience in teaching, supervision and research. Since 2009, her research has traced the digitalisation of taxation, from e-filing and GST systems to e-invoicing, gig economy taxation and XBRL tax reporting. She has been principal investigator on more than ten funded projects, including international studies on XBRL tax reporting in Malaysia and Indonesia. Her outputs include more than 30 Scopus-indexed articles, several books and awards, and she has supervised more than 20 postgraduate students. In consultancy work, she combines specialist regulatory expertise, drawn from accounting and tax, with technology and social research, addressing cross-disciplinary problems. Her intellectual property includes a risk assessment patent application and copyrighted digital modules for micro-entrepreneurs, and she has served as an examiner/adviser for professional bodies such as MIA, MICPA and CTIM. She has held several administrative roles at the university and faculty level. She combines a funded research track record with consultancy experience, offering value to research funders and industry partners.
