Amira Firdaus is an Associate Professor at Universiti Malaya’s Department of Media and Communication Studies, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. Amira serves as an Advisor the Malaysian Adult ADHD Society (MAAS). She is also among the inaugural members of Universiti Malaya's Special Committee for Neurodiversity, following committee members' earlier work on the UM Taskforce for Neuro-Inclusivity. A life-long learner of Positive Psychology, Amira's core expertise is Positive/Constructive Communication with practical and conceptual applications across multidisciplinary areas of Communication, Neurodiversity, Teaching & Learning and Ageing. Within these areas, her foci include: positive technologies for neurodivergent/ADHD users, faculty wellbeing & happiness; online learning instructional design & communication; empathetic/inclusive instructional communication. Amira was previously Deputy Director for Professional Development / Head for Teaching & Learning at UM's Academic Development & Enhancement Centre (ADEC) (2014-2022), and she recently completed her tenure as Head at the Department of Media and Communication Studies (2024-2025). She also actively served in the UM Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences' Research Management Unit (RMU) from 2022-2024, specialising in UMExpert KPI submissions. Amira continues peer mentoring and coaching on an informal basis for colleagues requiring guidance with navigating internal systems such as UMExpert and SPeCTRUM (Moodle).
