Associate Professor Dr. Amirrudin Kamsin is a leading Malaysian academic and research innovator in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction, Educational Technology, and Islamic Digital Informatics, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Computer System & Technology at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya. With over two decades of academic and institutional leadership, Dr. Amirrudin has played a transformative role in Malaysia’s digital innovation and higher education ecosystem. He has held multiple senior appointments including Acting Director of The Centre for Leadership and Professional Development (UMLEAD), Acting Director and Deputy Director at the Universiti Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCED), UMEXPERT Coordinator, and a key Taskforce Member of Universiti Malaya’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030. He holds a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction from University College London, an MSc in Computer Animation from Bournemouth University, and a Bachelor of Information Technology from Universiti Malaya. With this multidisciplinary training, he leads impactful research that bridges technology, education, ethics, and socio-digital inclusion. As Principal Investigator and Co-Researcher, Dr. Amirrudin has secured over RM 3.6 million in research funding through national schemes such as FRGS and PRGS, as well as international initiatives including the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Newton-Ungku Omar Fund.
