Dr. Ameen Al-Nahari is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, where he earned his PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence and Legal Theory. He is a recipient of the University’s Excellent Service Award on four occasions (2011, 2019, 2022, and 2023). Dr. Al-Nahari has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in indexed journals, including a number of journals indexed by global databases (Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, and ESCI), in addition to authoring five books and contributing thirteen book chapters. He has led and participated in a number of research projects, and some of his research papers have been formally adopted by Malaysian religious authorities, including the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Mufti Offices of Selangor and Sarawak. He has supervised over 70 postgraduate theses and dissertations and currently mentors 31 active PhD candidates. Beyond his teaching and supervisory roles, he serves as a language editor for a refereed fiqh journal, a reviewer for international academic journals and postgraduate examinations, and a member of scientific committees for numerous international conferences. His research interests include Maqasid al-Shariah, Usul al-Fiqh, Islamic financial jurisprudence, comparative fiqh and law, Muslim minority studies, as well as contemporary legal, ethical, and bioethical issues.
