Nurulaini Abu Shamsi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Science and Technology Studies, Universiti Malaya. She holds a BSc in Biotechnology and Health Science from the University of Adelaide, Australia, and an MSc in Science and Technology Studies from Universiti Malaya. She earned her PhD in Health Communication from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, focusing on the media’s role in disseminating information on non-communicable diseases in Malaysia. Trained in both natural and social sciences, Nurulaini’s research bridges these fields through science communication and public engagement. She is part of the Trust in Science and Science-Related Populism (TISP) Project and serves on the expert panel for the ISC–FAO Issue Paper on Science Communication for Agrifood Systems Transformation. She is also a member of the Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Network. At the national level, she collaborates with NARC, SEAMEO-RECSAM, the Science Media Centre Malaysia, and MySains. Her teaching and supervision focus on science and health communication, media representation, social media, and stakeholder engagement in sustainability.
