Dr Aina obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Universiti Malaya in 2013 and subsequently served with the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia for nine years. She pursued postgraduate studies at King's College London, obtaining her MSc in Dental Public Health in 2020 and PhD in Dental Public Health in 2026. During her MOH service, she gained extensive experience in clinical dentistry, community oral healthcare, healthcare administration, and national oral health policy. She held positions at district, state, and national levels, including Assistant Director at the Melaka State Health Department and Principal Assistant Director at the Oral Health Programme, MOH. Her research interests include oral epidemiology, life-course research, oral healthcare utilisation, and oral health inequalities, with particular interest in quantitative research, longitudinal data analysis, and causal inference. She received the IADR Newell W. Johnson Travel Award in 2025. Dr Aina contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research supervision, academic assessment, and research instrument validation. She serves as a peer reviewer for international journals and Copy Editor for the Annals of Dentistry University of Malaya. Drawing on her experience in public healthcare and academia, she is committed to advancing evidence-based dental public health research, translating evidence into policy and practice, and nurturing future dental professionals and researchers.
