As an academic neurologist with expertise in Parkinson's and Movement Disorders, Dr. Tan Ai Huey dedicates her career to excellence in clinical care, scientific advancement, and medical education. With over 120 publications in high-impact journals including Nature Reviews Neurology and Lancet Neurology, her work has driven advances in microbiome–gut–brain interactions and neurogenetics, contributing significantly to biomarker discovery and precision medicine. Recognised among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University (2025), she has secured major international grants (>RM7 million) from the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Global Parkinson's Genetics Program, and Toray Science Foundation. Her leadership extends globally. She currently serves as Chair of the Malaysian Movement Disorder Council, Secretary-Elect of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society-Asian-Oceanian Section, and Associate Editor of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. She was the past President of the Malaysian Society of Neurosciences. At Universiti Malaya, she leads the UMHealth Committee for talent strategies and the Faculty's Research Management Unit. Committed to training research postgraduate and clinical fellows from underserved countries, she has won teaching excellence awards from UM and the College of Physicians Malaysia.
