Affan is the co-founder of Water Warriors, a living lab programme at Universiti Malaya that leads action-oriented and translational research to develop sustainable water management solutions for the campus. He also co-founded Inspirasi Kawa, an environmental youth group in Kuala Selangor dedicated to river conservation, and Sekitar Kita, a social enterprise spin-off from Water Warriors. His areas of expertise include water conservation, particularly the restoration of rivers and lakes, citizen science, environmental education, and sustainable innovation. Additionally, he has a keen interest in urban biodiversity and waste management. Currently, Affan is a research officer at the Universiti Malaya Sustainable Development Centre (UMSDC). In recognition of his contributions, he was named one of the Top 40 Under 40 by Prestige in 2021, an annual list celebrating Malaysia’s most successful, innovative, and influential young people.
