BIOGRAPHY


Prof Dr Ir Clarence Augustine TH Tee PhD (Cambridge), BEng (Hons, 1st Class), PEPC (Electrical), ACPE (Electrical), CEng(UK), FIET (UK), Fellow CCT (UK), Fellow CTES (UK), Fulbright Fellow (USA), Int. PE, APAC Eng, AE, SMIEEE (USA), MOSA (USA), MSPIE (USA), BLCS (UK), has over 23 years of working experience in industry, R & D and university. Currently, he is a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Director of Industrial Liaison Division, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya. He is the distinguished advisor to China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Maritime Silk Road Initiatives (Belt Road Initiative) under the Chinese Government, PRC since 2009. Furthermore, he has been appointed as the Guest Professor of Hunan University of Technology, China. Previously, in his MNCs senior management roles, he was instrumental in establishing university and industry working together and partnership, solving real-world challenges by leveraging on cross-disciplined innovative solutions, advanced technologies & disruptive business models. Over the years, he has developed solid teaching, industrial and research relationships, establishing deep and sustainable funding opportunities locally and internationally through his previous professorships with universities such as Stanford, Peking, UniMAP, NPU, MIU, affiliations with Cambridge, Imperial College London & Leeds and senior management roles in MNCs such as Marconi Plc, T-Capital Industry Inc and British Aerospace; thus, the capabilities to access capital funds from US Silicon Valley, Europe and China. He was board members for start-up companies, academic/industrial advisors to public universities, invited/distinguished speakers for international conferences, Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Fellow, Chevening Technology Enterprise Scholar/Fellow, Fulbright Fellow/Scholar, AUA Scholar, China-ASEAN (ACNET-EngTech) Scholar, SATU Research Scheme (SE & SA & Taiwan Universities) Award as well as active Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Panel with Board of Engineers, Malaysia. He has authored/co-authored 213 international and commercial in confidence publications and has filed 9 IPs with 3 international patents. His current research interests are electrical engineering (renewable/green-hybrid energy system, smart grid/energy internet system, electric vehicles, hybrid storage/energy efficient system, photonics/optoelectronics/surface optics, power quality, generation & U/HV transmission system), smart/precision agriculture, smart city design, planning & implementation, smart manufacturing/precision system, IoT, AI, robotics, sustainable energy, transport & urban infrastructure, complex/resilient/intelligent system, MEMs/Bio-MEMs, nanotechnology & nanoscience (nanomaterials engineering, plasmonics, graphene & carbon nanotubes, nanoelectronics), nanomedicine, translation & therapy response, cross-disciplined research involving medicine, engineering, agriculture & deep learning/big data analytics.
