Dr. Aslina Pahrudin Arrozi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Molecular Medicine at Universiti Malaya, leading translational research at the intersection of molecular neuroscience, molecular pathology, and cognitive health. She earned her BSc in Biochemistry (2013) and Master’s in Medical Science (2018) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), followed by a PhD in Medical Science (2022) from Shiga University of Medical Science (SUMS), Japan, under the MEXT scholarship. After serving as an Assistant Professor at Molecular Neuroscience Research Centre (SUMS), she joined Universiti Malaya in late 2023.

Her research addresses brain health across the lifespan from the molecular pathology of neurodegeneration in aging to cognitive development. She specializes in evaluating natural bioactive compounds (Zingiber extracts, vitamin E isomers, peptides, etc) to mitigate neuroinflammation, glial activation, and amyloid/tau pathology in Alzheimer’s disease and related tauopathies. Anchored in molecular neuroscience and molecular pathology, her research program integrates fundamental cell biology, cross-system physiology, bioenergetics, and functional neuro-assessments. By investigating how systemic metabolic signals, cellular stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction drive neurodegeneration, alongside evaluating cognitive performance, her lab serves as a versatile translational testing platform. Dr. Aslina actively seeks multidisciplinary collaborations with natural product chemists, bioengineers, data scientists, and clinical trialists to translate core mechanistic insights into innovative neuroprotective therapies, diagnostic biomarkers, and targeted brain interventions across diverse age-related brain disorders.
