BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Ariyanti Mustapha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Shariah (Siyāsah Shar‘iyyah), a Master’s degree in Shariah (Uṣūl al-Fiqh), and a PhD in Uṣūl al-Fiqh from the University of Malaya, with a specialization in Orientalist Studies and Social Behavioural Science. She began her academic career as a lecturer at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fiqh-Usul and Applied Sciences at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. Dr. Ariyanti is actively engaged in scholarly writing and publication, focusing on contemporary issues examined through the lens of Islamic jurisprudence. Her research interests include artificial intelligence, Orientalist discourse, and emerging issues in Islamic law. She adopts an interdisciplinary approach that integrates classical jurisprudential principles with modern technological and societal developments. Her publications span areas such as Orientalist studies, the epistemology of Islamic law within Orientalist discourse, contemporary fiqh issues, and the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence, contributing to both national and international academic scholarship.
