BIOGRAPHY


Andrea Passeri is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of International and Strategic Studies, University of Malaya (UM). Prior to joining UM, Dr. Passeri worked as Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna (Italy) and also served as Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS) of the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He obtained his PhD in International Relations of East Asia from the University of Cagliari (Italy). Dr. Passeri’s research have appeared on leading international journals devoted to East Asian politics, including ‘The Pacific Review’, ‘Southeast Asian Affairs’, and ‘The Korean Journal of Defence Analysis’. His main research interests include nationalism in East Asia, alignment strategies, small power diplomacy, and Myanmar politics. Dr. Passeri regularly collaborates with renowned think thanks and newspapers located both in Italy and abroad, such as the East-West Center, the Myanmar Times, the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), and the Institute for International Affairs (IAI).
