BIOGRAPHY

STEFANIE PILLAI is an Associate Professor at the Department of English Language, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya. Her areas of research interest include the segmental and prosodic features of spoken Malaysian English, and the documentation of Malaccan Portuguese Creole. Stefanie is a member of the main committee for the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia's Higher Institutions' Centers of Excellence (HICoE). She is the Chief Editor of the Malaysian Journal of ELT Research and is a member of the Editorial Board/Committee of Asia TEFL Journal, and many other journals. She is a recipient of the Commonwealth Split-Site PhD Scholarship (2001), the Endangered Languages Documentation Project Grant from SOAS (2011), and is the 2013 Ian Gordon Fellow at Victoria University Wellington. Her other achievements include being awarded Best Lecturer in the UM Excellence Awards 2013, and winning the Best Poster Presentation for the Humanties Category and the Best of the Best Award for Social Sciences at the University of Malaya Research Conference Poster Competition 2013.
