BIOGRAPHY
Dr. S. Kumaran (Kumaran Suberamanian) has authored more than 40 research papers and books in Tamil, English and Malay. His field of specialization are Tamil Language, Tamil Classical Literature, Indian Civilization and Comparative Study of Japanese Manyoshu Songs and Tamil Classical Literature. He has written a number of papers in various fields namely Tamil Classical Literature, Comparative Literature, Comparative Study of Japanese Manyoshu Songs and Tamil Classical Literature, Tamil Language, Dictionary, Education, Indian Civilization and so on. He has attended and submitted research papers in many national and International Conferences, Seminars and Workshops at Chennai, Thanjavur, Tiruchy, Madurai, Coimbatore, (India), Pondicherry, Tokyo (Japan), Montreal (Canada), Singapore, Dhaka (Bangladesh), Jaffna (Sri Lanka), Durban (South Africa), Ankara (Turkey), Manila (Philipines), Taipei (Taiwan), Yogyakarta, Bali (Indonesia), Daejoen (Korea) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). He has started his career as a Tutor at Department of Indian Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya in 1986. He was appointed as a Lecturer in 1991 and promoted to as an Associate Professor in 2000. He was also be a Research Fellow at University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka for the duration of four months from May to August 2003. At present he is a Associate Fellow at Centre for Civilizational Dialogue, University of Malaya apointed by Vice Chancellor. He owes a great deal to the intellectual stalwarts like Prof. Dr. N. Kanthasamy (Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Pon. Kothandaraman (India), Prof. Susumu Ohno (Japan), Prof. Dr. K. S. Nathan (Singapore), Prof. Dr. A. Sanmugadas and Dr. Manonmoney Sanmugadas (Sri Lanka), Prof. Dr. Arivunambi (Pondicherry), Prof. Karunakaran (Michigan) Dr. S. Kumaran is presently working as a Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Indian Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
