Kuang Ching Hei is currently associate professor at the Faculty of Languages & Linguistics, University of Malaya. She is a certified teacher specialising in TESOL (Ipoh Teacher's Training College-1977), holds a PhD in Sociolinguistics (University of Malaya, 2007), a Master of Arts in English Language Teaching (Ealing College of Higher Education, London, 1988), an Executive Diploma in Counselling (UMCCed, 2009) and is a certified and qualified Executive Coach (UMCCed, 2010). She also did a few papers in Law (Tort, Contract and Malaysian Constitution-Law Faculty, UM, 2011) and is a trainer and speaker for workshops organised by ADEC (Academic Development Centre, UM) focussing on Postgraduate Supervision, Coaching and Mentoring, Teaching and Learning (Building student rapport, Know your learners, Student centred learning, Learning assessment), Academic writing skills and Critical thinking skills for students and academicians. She also conducts modules on Know your Learners and Student Centred Learning for Training Porgrammes for New Lecturers (TPNL). She teaches Language Acquisition, Research Methodology, Critical Thinking, Critical reading and writing, and Public Speaking to undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has presented and published papers on dicourse anaylsis, language acquisition and teaching and learning in higher education. She has completed all the modules of 'Teaching & Learning in Higher Education ' organised by the Academy of Leadership for Higher Education (AKEPT) for master trainers and is co-author of 'Writing the Resarch Paper (2006), author of 'Linguistic Journey of a Bilingual Child (2012)', 'Simultaneous acquisition of Mandarin and English: from birth to age two years (2012)', and 'Guide to Doing a Critical Review of Journal Articles (2013)' and 'Assessing Learning Outcomes and Giving Feedback (2013)'. She also mooted the idea and compiled a collection of real stories on postgraduate supervision in higher education which was published as 'Stories and Reflections of Student Supervision (co-ed., 2013)'. She writes in her leisure hours.
